Utalk Network Messenger is a text chat client for LANs that has a nice-looking interface as well as a couple of useful features. In the program window you can see other people who use the client to chat over the network - both their user names and host names (names of their PCs) too. You can write a text message and attach a file to be sent via the program. It also features an effective reminder utility - pick a date and time using a standard calendar, type in the reminder words and voila - when the alarm goes off, you'll be confronted with the message, so there's no chance to forget about a lunch date or a deadline. The program doesn't need to be installed - just unpack and run - and saves all reminder data in a plain text file in the folder you place it in.
